Exploring Las Vegas - The City That Never Sleeps

Exploring Las Vegas - The City That Never SleepsLas Vegas is a very beautiful city and there is rarely a time that people are not filling the sidewalks of The Strip. I love going to Las Vegas for that very reason! It is one of my favorite cities to visit, so that I can walk around, watch people and see many fascinating sights.

On a recent trip to Las Vegas, we were worried that we would not find anything that we would want to do, because it was our third trip to the city, however, Las Vegas did not disappoint! We filled our entire trip with old favorites and new experiences.

On our way to The Strip from the airport, we stopped at the infamous Las Vegas sign before settling in at our hotel. Then the real fun began. We spent the first day walking around and stopping in our favorite casinos. I've found that the slots at Circus Circus are the best ones to win a little money at. We have had success at the Riviera (which no longer exists) and the Bellagio too. After a fantastic dinner at Margaritaville, we headed down to Fremont Street to check out Old Vegas for the night.

We usually stay on Eastern Standard Time as much as possible while we are in Las Vegas, which is easier than it sounds. We get up around 4am, take a midday nap and then stay up until 10-11pm. Mornings on The Strip are absolutely the best. There is nothing better than walking around in complete silence (this is when no one is up or around) and watching the sun rise over the casinos. On our second day, we headed over to the Siegfried and Roy Magic Garden at the Mirage. They have multiple tigers, lions and dolphins that I love watching and interacting with. One of these trips out, I plan on taking advantage of their dolphin trainer for a day program. It sounds absolutely amazing!

That evening we went to see Cirque de Soleil's Mystique, which is one of the cheaper performances out in Las Vegas. I wanted to see O, but I couldn't afford the tickets. Mystique was very mesmerizing and the entire performance went by in a flash! It felt that we just sat down and 2 hours had actually passed.

On our third day in Las Vegas, we headed over to the famous Pawn Shop that is featured on television and we were amazed at how small it is inside. It always looked huge on television. We didn't see any of the main people that are featured on the show, so they must not work too much unless they are filming. Our next stop was at Rick's Restoration and we were thrilled when we pulled into that parking lot. The entire outside of the building looks like an old town. They give free tours and while you can't take pictures while on the tour, you can take them in the main room before and after the tour. We even had our picture taken with Rick.

Later that afternoon we went to see Jeff Civillico's comedy show. It was second time that we had seen him perform and we bought a DVD after the show to bring home to show friends and family. You can also look up some of his stunts on YouTube. Let's just say that everyone in the audience laughed throughout the entire show! It is also very family friendly and the ticket prices are reasonable. We got a special pass that night for a 24 hour dining experience at 7 of the buffets on The Strip and we started out with a later dinner in order to get the most meals out of the pass. We ended up having dinner at the buffet at Paris and we also tried out the food at the Linq buffet. Paris has been my favorite buffet out of all of the ones that I have tried. Flamingo buffet has been one of the worst!

By the end of our trip, we had also seen all of the free shows on The Strip, including the fountains at Bellagio, the volcano at the Mirage, the Pirate Show at Treasure Island and the Atlantis show inside Caesar's Palace. On our last night in Vegas, we went up into the Eiffel Tower so that we could see the views of the entire Strip from above and I decided that I like being up high when all the lights are on The Strip. The views are still nice during the day, but the lights make it seem more surreal.

Every trip to Las Vegas is an experience and I cannot wait until I take my next trip back. There is still so much that I want to do and see while visiting. One of the things that I want to do next time is go out to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. Since this is one of my favorite parts of the country, I know that I'll get there as soon as I can!

Awesome travellogue!! Looking for more from you..
